text 5 Feb Who is God?

The Bible gives many different names and attributes to God. The many different descriptions are an attempt to designate God’s many different character traits. Systematic Theology by Wayne Grudem lists some of these traits. God is described as a lion (Isa. 31:4), an eagle (Deut. 32:11), a torch (Rev. 21:23), a shadow (Ps. 91:1), a shield (Ps. 84:11), and so on. My favorite designation of God is found in Psalm 91:1 which says: “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” It is important to note the word dwell which in the Greek is transliterated: Yashab which means to abide, to remain, to stay. Another description is “to marry” which I think really illustrates this idea really well. Basically what the passage is saying is that rest and safety are found when one lives a life fully devoted to God. I encourage you to seek shelter in the arms of the creator by living a life where you always strive to live fully devoted to God.

What is God to you and why is that significant in your life?
